The Spireites new b2net stadium at Whittington Moor looks like being good news for the local economy of Chesterfield with the prospect of around 130 new full-time and part-time jobs being created after the new £13 million venue opens in July.
This prestigious new entertainment venue in North Derbyshire will provide openings for matchday staff and catering professionals when recruitment starts in the near future, with a further 30 community related jobs likely in health, fitness and education, when the Midlands Co-operative Community Stand becomes fully operational in 2011.
The new conference and banqueting suites at the b2net will serve up to 300 guests for weddings and celebration parties, and will be the venue for a variety of corporate events, including special themed nights, exhibitions and conferences. Catering staff for both kitchen and front of house operations, including bar staff are to be recruited.
On matchdays, the venue will provide Chesterfield FC with superb corporate hospitality facilities, as well as, full catering and bar services from airy concourses in each stand. The 10,500 seater b2net stadium will need to be serviced by additional matchday stewards, cleaners and bar and kiosk assistants.

Chesterfield FC chief executive Carol Wilby said: "We are aiming to make the b2net stadium the premier venue in North Derbyshire and we will be looking for highly motivated staff who will also share that vision."
Visiting the new stadium last week, Cllr Ray Russell, Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council said: "The move from Saltergate to the new site will not just provide better facilities for the Club and fans but it will be a resource for the wider community to use and benefit from."
He added: "The council's cabinet believes the football club promotes Chesterfield as a place to live and work as well as providing a strong local sporting focus."
