This weekend's league game between Northampton Town and Chesterfield has been called-off following a pitch inspection due to the snow and frozen pitch at Sixfields.
A new date has already been fixed and the game will now be played on Tuesday 2 February 2010, kick-off 7.45pm
Premier league referee Peter Walton inspected the playing surface on Friday afternoon and he reluctantly decided the game could not go ahead.
"The staff have done a terrific job and the majority of the pitch is in perfect condition, " he said.
"The problem is there is an area in front of the South Stand that has become frozen in the last day or so and with that in mind I have had to call the game off."
The club had battled hard to get the game on, and Cobblers chairman David Cardoza paid tribute to the efforts of the staff."
"It was a monumental effort from all the staff involved, " he said.
"We were the last club in League 2 still fighting to get our game on and there are only two other games on in League One."
"We were confident we could do it but unfortunately a small area of the field has worsened considerably since Thursday and that is what has cost us the chance of the match going ahead."
