How much of a Super-Sub is Scott?

Posted on: Sat 02 Jan 2010

Scott Boden's bagged four goals in his 12 appearances from the bench in League Two this season.

But it's not just goals that make a 'super-sub.' They may make the headlines but a subs' job is more to try and change the game in your side's favour, and Scott has certainly done that this season.

Five of his appearances have seen no change at all in the match's scoreline, but three of those appearances were for just a few minutes. One was at Hereford when he had 33 minutes and saw a goal chalked off for offside. Video replays confirm the officials got that wrong.

His other seven introductions in League Two this season have seen The Spireites 'win' during the time he's been on the park.

From a 1-0 'win' in the match at Dagenham & Redbridge (we lost 2-1), Chesterfield have come out on top in seven spells after the ex Sheffield United man has been brought on, including the games in which he scored against Barnet, Darlington (two goals) and Lincoln.

Surely statistics impressive enough to give the 20 year old a first league start of the season, especially when combined with the fact that his 4 goals have come from just 230 or so minutes on the park, less than three full games worth.
