National Domestic Abuse Week

Posted on: Mon 07 Dec 2009

One in six men watching football matches will at some time suffer from domestic abuse. Shocked?  Yes it's a shocking statistic.

Domestic abuse happens to men as well as women.

Even men watching Chesterfield FC play football every week will be typically embarrassed and ashamed of what is happening to them and they don't know how or where to get help.

But there is help - the ManKind Initiative is a charity that provides a help-line for male victims and to coincide with National Domestic Abuse Awareness Week (28th November - 5th December) we are raising awareness of the helpline so that any man suffering knows who to contact.

Even if just one man gets in contact because they had seen this notice that would be invaluable to that man.

Chesterfield FC would have helped someone who may otherwise have continued to suffer in silence.
