Chesterfield's former striker Jamie Ward has issued an eve of season message to Spireites fans.
The popular pocket rocket recently returned to Saltergate with the Blades for a pre-season friendly and even scored one of the goals from the penalty spot in their two nil victory.
He said: "I was absolutely delighted with the wonderful welcome I got from Chesterfield fans, especially all the friendly chanting from the Kop."
"I was a little apprehensive about returning and what the reaction would be from the fans so I was completely taken aback with such a great reception."
I want to thank everyone and let people know how much it was appreciated.
Looking toward the new season he added: "I want to wish everyone at Chesterfield FC all the best for a great season, and hopefully, promotion."
Jamie Ward first joined Chesterfield from Torquay United for £95,000 in 2007 but his livewire performances caught the eye of Sheffield United and he was transferred last January for a fee that eventually could rise to nearly £400,000.
