Former Wigan Athletic loanee Lewis Montrose has rejected the deal on offer from Chesterfield FC and has agreed to sign for Wycombe Wanderers when his Latics contract expires on 30 June 2009.
The 20 year old had signed a pre-contract agreement when Lee Richardson was the manager, with every expectation that the youngster would sign a permanent deal on 1 July. During the close season the involvement of a new agent seems to have changed the course of events.
Chesterfield manager John Sheridan said: "Although I am disappointed with Lewis'decision I only want players who wish to play 100% for Chesterfield. Clearly that is not the case here so I'm not losing any sleep over it and we quickly move on."
Meanwhile, Wycombe boss Peter Taylor said: "I've kept tabs on Lewis ever since we played against Chesterfield last season. I hope with some games and experience he will kick on."
