The first round draw for the Carling Cup will take place this Tuesday 16th June.

 

70 Football League clubs will appear in the first round with Newcastle United and Middlesbrough receiving byes as the highest placed clubs in last season's league tables.

 

The next 35 clubs in last season's tables (down to Walsall - 13th place in League 1) will be seeded and drawn against the remaining 35 clubs.

 

The draw is also regionalised with the Spireites in the unseeded northern section with every chance of drawing a tie against new manager John Sheridan's former clubs, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds Utd, Nottingham Forest and of course Oldham Athletic.
