NEXT UP: BURY
It's the clash of the big northern heavyweights at Saltergate on Saturday, when The Halifax Hammer takes on The Lancashire Lip, as Lee Richardson and Alan Knill go head to head. That's how some will see it - as a clash of the two men, who are in reality friends as well as former colleagues. Lee is respectful of his chum's achievements, observing that"Alan has made a big impact since he went there, and I think they are a team that will surprise a lot of people this season."
Both sides performed well against their Lancashire opponents in the Carling Cup, but ultimately went out at the first round stage. Both sides conceded in the first half, enjoyed decent second halves but had an unjust slant given to the score line by injury-time goals. Both sides won their opening-day fixtures in League Two, with Bury beating Brentford's 1-0 at Gigg Lane, while we swept Barnet aside by three goals to one at Underhill. So, really, there's not a lot of space between the sides at the moment in what should prove a difficult game to dominate for both teams.

Bury completed the capture of Blackpool's Andy Morrell in midweek and will include him in their squad. If he starts it is most likely to be at the expense of Glynn Hurst, who he replaced on Tuesday in a second half substitution.Glynn should always be certain of a good reception here, for that goal against Luton in 2004. Spireites World subscribers can, of course, watch that goal via the video search function again. And again; and again... Expect Morrell for Hurst to be the only change to the Bury side that started against Burnley.
Ben Algar returned to training on Thursday, allowing Richardson the rare luxury of a full squad to choose from. Since the Barnet win that squad has been reinforced by the clearing-up of Currie's paperwork, the securing of Scott Boden on a short-term deal and the loan signing of Sunderland's Northern Ireland under-21 goalie, Trevor Carson. We are unlikely to see too many changes, though, and with our being at home I'd put my 5p on us staring with the side that began the second half at Preston on Tuesday, particularly since Richardson expressed the view that "We had the better of the second half at Preston and created some great chances."
Speaking of his latest addition to the squad, Richardson confirmed that Trevor was a player who had been "On the radar" for a while, but that, as with many Premiership loans, the lending club didn't want to let him go until closer to their season's start. Carson is unlikely to be pitched in straight away; Richardson revealed that "We were pleased with Tommy Lee the other night - he had an excellent game . When I signed Tommy I explained that I'd be looking for another goalie too. Trevor'sgot a season here and he'll get some games, but we've got a keeper here now who's got the shirt, so we'll have to see how that develops."
The game will be covered in its entirety on Spireites World.
