Spireites kicked towards the mass of Owls fans on the Cross Street end in the first half.
Wednesday won the first corner which was half cleared. Lee spectacularly caught in second ball in - clearly 'one for the cameras!'
Currie just couldn't quite get on the end of an excellent Chesterfield move that was started by him and passed through Ward, Kerry and Picken before the full back's ball towards Currie that Grant just got to first.
Sodje skied a long ranger into the kop before Goodall's first chance to shine, he moved forwards well but his cross didn't find a blue shirt.
Lester was presented with a gift when Grant made a hash of a kick-out. The ball went straight to the feet of the ex Blades man but his chip back in was caught by the relieved keeper.
Picken's perceptive ball set Lowry sawy but his cross was bundled away for a corner that was cleared. Two good moves for Lee's lads.
Tudgay put a terrific ball through to Sodje, who side stepped Austin but hammered the ball off target when he should have done better. Johnson then left footed well off target from the edge of the box.
Oduro made a scintillating run down the right, a one-two with Lester carved open the defence but the triallist pulled his shot wide of the target. Ward then chipped an inch or two over after a powerful run down the middle.
Lowry got on the end of a ball down the right, delivered a cross that Wednesday had difficulty in clearing, eventually the got it out to Harsley and his powerful shot from 25 yards was well saved by Grant.
Goodall hacked down Johnson whilst he was in full flight. From the 25 yard free kick, Esajas received the rolled ball and hit firmly on target. Lee flung himself left to palm away in some style.

Chesterfield took the lead when Lowry delivered a cross from the right touchline and WARD, unmarked, glanced a delicate header beyond Grant from 5 yards.
Lowry then powered down the centre, passed wide to Ward but his curling shot flew well high and wide. Wood then erred with a header back to Grant, Ward latched onto it but hit wide when he should have done better. Grant had to head clear as Ward chased a Goodall ball as Spireites looked in top gear.
McAllister then had an early contender for 'miss of the season.' He was in the right place at the right time to get onto the end of some scrappy defensive play by Page, five yards out and with Lee isolated but he managed only to hit the bar and Chesterfield gratefully hacked away for a corner which came to nothing.
Grant mishandled to give Chesterfield a corner that was quickly followed by a free kick and another corner but the goal wasn't troubled.
O'Connor delivered a left sided free kick, Sodje rose, far post, unmarked, but continued his run of missing the target. Johnson then squared for Tudgay but the ball was just overhit and it ran out for a goal kick.
Page headed in from a Currie free kick on 43 but he was adjudged to have pushed Beevers.
Esajas whipped in a rising shot from 18 yards, Lee blocked it and dived on the loose ball ahead of Sodje.
HALF TIME

Burton for Esajas was the only half time substitution and he got the first shot after the restart in but it was easy for Lee.
Picken did well to rob Burton after a Gilbert ball forwards but Wednesday won a corner, O'Connor delivered, Burton shot looked goal bound but Harsley got a part of his body on the ball and it deflected for a corner which was rapidly followed by two more that saw The Owls look dangerous with BUrton the catalyst to their improvement.
Niven replaced the impressive Lowry.
Spurr crossed for O'Connor who just couldn't quite make the target. Lee then gave the ball to Sodje with a poor kick and Sodje sidestepped the hapless No.1 but blazed wide yet again from the right corner of the 18.
Currie won a corner, took it himself, Spurr skied his attempted clearance but Kerry fouled as he tried to get on the end of the loose ball.
Sodje was replaced by Clarke.
Niven blazed over from 12 yards in Chesterfield's first attack for a while. Kerry then had to back track to tackle McAllister, his tackle led to a corner that was cleared to Ward but his run and cross just eluded Lester and Niven.
Hinds came on for Wood then Oduwo came on for Harsley. Oduwo went to the right of midfield.
Goodall had to be sharp to clear for a corner with Burton and Tudgay poised. Currie cleared O'Connor's flag kick at the near post. Burton then put in a spectacular overhead kick but the ball flew straight to Lee. Clarke then shot in but Lee had the ball covered.
O'Connor hit a long ranger just over before Ward had a great chance to double Chesterfield's lead. Lester put the ball through, Grant hesitated and let Ward get control but the striker's shot was blocked by the keeper and his second effort, a cross, was too short for Lester.
McAllister took a knock and was replaced by Boden.
O'Connor's 30 yard free kick was well placed but Lee caught diving to his right. Austin then did well to clear a corner as Wednesday searched for the leveller.
Beevers had to be brave to rob Oduwu after a Lester pass.
