Referee is Euro 2008 Premier League man Howard Webb from Rotherham.

Robertson brought down the flying Mendy on the right edge of the box, Halmosi took the kick left footed and the ball rattled the woodwork right on the angle of bar and post. Picken cleared from in front of the Hull fans on the Cross Street End.

Halmosi had a close range header but didn't catch it well, enabling an easy gather for Flinders.

Chesterfield are finding it difficult to make any headway against a strong looking City side but there was warm applause when Lester and Ward combined well to win the game's first corner that was half cleared but Page delivered back into the box and Lester almost squirmed through.

Robertson crossed and won another corner, he took it short to Lester who picked out Kerry but his shot was hacked away from close to the upright.

Picken blocked a cross for a Tigers flag kick and they immediately won another after Page headed out. The second kick caused few palpitations. Flinders then caught an angled free kick from Halmosi before a Lowry crossfield pass picked out Ward who shot and forced a diving save from Duke.

Kerry won another corner but Hull cleared. Halfway through the first half and still no goals.

Cooper headed well wide from another corner - flag kicks are the main weapon for both sides at present.

Austin made a poor clearance, and Fagan fed the ball  for GIOVANNI who stretched to reach it and slide the ball passed Flinders.

Mendy fired over from a good position as Hull maintained control. Windass then headed wide - or more truthfully, the ball whacked against his head and flew wide!

Halmosi nipped by Page on the edge of the box and delivered a peach of a cross for WINDASS to poke home from close range.

Lester jinked on the edge of the six but his shot on the turn was always going wide.

Ward put in a good cross from the left but it just eluded Lester and Currie then Picken had to be sharp to keep Mendy out.

HALF TIME: SPIREITES 0 HULL 2

Two subs for Chesterfield at the break (see team line up above) and six for City, including Caleb.

Ward fired over from distance before Hall came on for Lowry. Hall goes to RB, Picken to LB with Robertson LMF and Currie RMF.

Ward again got a shot in and Warner caught well. Folan then whipped in a fierce low shot and Flinders blocked well.

Jeffrey came on for Ward and Barmby replaced on 56.

Hughes tested the palms of Flinders and Folan rushed in to get on the end of the loose ball, but he suceeded only in hitting the upper echelons of the Kop. A harsh home crowd chanted in gleeful mode, "Premiership - you're having a laugh!!"

Garcia replaced Fagan.

Lester burst into the box but was unable to get his shot away.

France and Featherstone on for Ricketts and Marney on 66 as did Algar, for Robertson. Algar went RW with Currie back on the left.

Flinders and Folan went on for a 50-50, Folan got there first but he put the ball over and the keeper, after a moment on the deck, got up uninjured.

Welsh became sub 11 for Hull on for Turner.

Currie played a superb ball, low in to Lester, he turned well, shook of his marker and Warner had to make a top drawer save to knock the ball out for a corner, Austin headed wide from the set play.

Jeffrey then battled and got a shot in that was deflected for a corner but that came to nothing. A powerful run by the Hammer ended in a goal kick after he was crowded out.

78 mins: SPIREITES 0 HULL 3

Hall blocked Featherstone for a corner that was partially cleared but the ball went wide to Garcia and his cross was headed home on 78 by FOLAN.

Niven hit the post at the end of a great move. Niven fed Lester, he played the ball wide to Algar, his sensible, simple square ball found Niven whose placed shot hit the inside of the upright and Lester was inches away from bundling the ball over the line from a yard out.

Boden replaced Lester.

Ex Alfreton man France saw a 20 yarder tipped round the post by Flinders, City won another corner that ended with Welsh chipping just wide and high.
