SEVEN UP FOR THE CUP

Posted on: Sat 14 Jun 2008

For the first time ever, teams will be allowed to name a maximum of seven substitutes rather than the usual five in this season's Carling and FA Cup competitions. However, as things currently stand, only three of those seven will be able to used in any match.

The change has been made because from the start of this season in FA Premier League fixtures only, clubs will be allowed to name seven substitutes.

Spireite fans will get an early opportunity to see this new rule implemented when they visit Preston North End in the Carling Cup first round on the 12th August
