Chesterfield will play Preston North End away in the first round of the Carling Cup when ties are played week commencing 11 August 2008.

Ties will be played on the ground of the first club named during week commencing 11th August 2008.

The result of the draw is the first competitive fixture announced for the Spireites 2008-09 campaign and will be quickly followed on Monday 16^th of June when the full Coca Cola League fixtures will be revealed.
