Spireites face Milton Keynes Dons at Saltergate on Monday night (7.45 pm) in a match that will be televised live on Sky TV. The game brings with it a welcome £30,000 windfall for the club, a figure that we also received back in January when the telly team was here for the Hereford United game.

It's a rare opportunity for Chesterfield to be seen nationwide in a league match, indeed on only five previous occasions have Spireites been part of a full broadcast in such matches though they can point to an unbeaten record in those clashes.

Matches in the 96-97 FA Cup run and in a number of other cup games have also given Spireites the opportunity to impress the viewing public, but as for points bearing games, the list below is the complete, if rather short, list:

October 12th 1998

Stoke City 0 Chesterfield 0

Keepers Carl Muggleton, then a Stoke player, and Billy Mercer were on top in a game of few chances. Ex Spireites hero Phil Robinson turned out for Potters whilst Shane Nicholson, now fitness trainer at Saltergate, was on the Chesterfield roster.

Brentford 1 Chesterfield 1

Lloyd Owusu's early goal for Bees was cancelled out by Mick Galloway's only ever goal for Chesterfield. Muggleton was a Spireite in this game as were current Physio Jamie Hewitt and Junior Agogo, now a Forest star.

February 9th 2001

Chesterfield 2 Cheltenham Town 0

David Reeves and Rob Edwards scored in the opening minutes to give Spireites a comfortable if unspectacular win over fellow promotion chasers Cheltenham. Lee Richardson played the full 90 minutes for the hosts.

January 28th 2005

Bristol City 2 Chesterfield 3

Spireites first ever win at Bristol City after over 100 years of trying. A TV spectacular that began and ended with Mark Hudson goals for Chesterfield. Muggleton again featured in goal as Stephen Brooker and Jamie Smith got it back to 2-2 after Wayne Allison had made it 2-0 after just 14 minutes. Nicholson, Alan O'Hare and Derek Niven all played for the victors.

Chesterfield 4 Hereford United 0

A superb show from The Spireites against high-flying Hereford. Jack Lester bagged a brace, Jamie Lowry joined in the scoring action and, in the last minute, Brendan Moloney scored arguably the best televsied Chesterfield goal to date.
