Well Lee the boys are back in town and training what have you been doing ?

The main aim this week is to get everyone together and for the new players to meet the rest of the squad. Then also  to open the lungs up a bit with a few runs around Linacre.

Anybody been fined after the weigh in

No I have not heard from Jamie about anybody breaking the scales. Player these days tend to look after themselves and everyone looks in good shape for next week when we start in earnest.

Mark Allotts gone to Oldham what's the story there

It's actually been on going for around a year. John Sheridan first enquired about Mark virtually the day after he was appointed manager at Oldham, at that time it wasn't up for discussion. John enquired again about Mark at the end of last season and since then Mark made it clear that he didn't want to play for Chesterfield in League Two. Which I understand to an extent but at the same time was disappointed. So we made the decision not to have a disgruntled player around the place especially building up to the new season. Oldham made an offer which we decided to accept

An undisclosed fee why?

Because we don't want to disclose it

So a vacancy in midfield?

I have said before that the balance of the squad is not right at the moment and we require two possible three extra players. So we are still looking to bring people in.

Derbyshire Times headlines Rico "Still On Lookout" though some supporters feel they have detected a change of tone in the quotes about a tight budget. So was it all spin around the season ticket deadline?

What I have said is that we need to improve the playing squad and at this moment in time I feel the existing squad is adequate. But I am hopeful that we will bring in a few more players especially in the midfield area.

You have shaken the squad numbers up

I felt that last seasons numbers were not that successful for the majority of our players. So it was kind of a lottery for most of them. We are now in a squad game and it's no longer a one to eleven game, it's a one to twenty and over. So it's up to the player to make the number and if someone has a good season in any number that might become their favourite number in the future and that's the attitude I am looking for

So Adam Smith at nine won't mean he's playing a centre forward and Jamie Jackson won't be playing at left back?

Exactly long gone are the days where the number dictated the position.

So back to the real hard work next week

It doesn't really stop I have been working hard throughout the summer but we are looking forward to starting in earnest next week.
