NEW STADIUM LATEST Feb 2007

Posted on: Wed 08 Aug 2007

Chesterfield's plans to move to a new stadium at Whittington Moor are still waiting for site owners Wilson Bowden to finalise their plans for the remaining 15 acres of the 25 acre site on the old A61 Sheffield Road.

A further meeting is being held in March, with the Borough Council and the site owners, where it is expected that the football club will be updated on the latest position.

The club, which is eager to proceed, is already poised and ready to submit an application for detailed planning approval for the new stadium but can only do this when the site owners give the green light.

Planning is expected to take three months and building work eleven months.

Given a fair wind the club could be ready to move into the new stadium for the 2008-09 season but every month's delay at the beginning adds on another month's delay at the end.
