Lots of meetings and discussions are going on with regard to our proposed move from Saltergate to Wheeldon Mill. Stadium Director Phil Taylor, one of CFSS's representatives on the Football Club Board and Alan Walters, the Club's Finance Director, together with Architect Terry Ward met with Chesterfield Borough Council recently to outline, in very broad detail, the scope of the project.

A VIEW OF THE MILLTopics on the agenda included parking and traffic impact, the possible Brimington / Staveley by-pass, which is still in the pipeline and would run close to the site and the fact that leisure uses dominate our thoughts rather than the "commercial" development which blighted the last planning application handled by the Club many years ago.

The Club was informed that there is a review of the Local Plan currently being undertaken and that submissions by interested parties regarding this should be received by the Council by mid October.

INSIDE THE NEW GROUND ?Obviously the traffic impact of a new Stadium has always been the biggest potential hurdle and park and ride schemes and other similar ways of getting people to the ground are high on everyone's agenda.

It is anticipated that an application for outline planning permission will be ready for submission in a few months time, around six months being the most likely sort of timescale. Contractual terms with the developer are well down the road, our respective solicitors are looking closely at the words and we are reviewing the last planning application to ensure we don't fall down the same traps.

The involvement of local Community groups is also being encouraged, Community Director John Croot is pulling together this strategy and the methods of funding of the project are also being examined in detail.

A sub group is in the process of being set up to canvass the opinions of supporters to establish what exactly the main people involved in this whole project have on their "wish list", so things like aesthetics, standing, refreshments and the like will be built into the project having taken account of the future users of the facilities.

Everything being done at present is to make sure we maximise the chance of getting it right first time, we want there to be no surprises in the planning documents, we want every question asked to be answered and we want a final outcome that satisfies our members, our supporters, the Council and the residents.
