b2net Stadium Building Director John Currie once again spoke exclusively to Spireites Player and updated subscribers with the latest news from the build.
John told Player "The floodlights are up and working and we may well have a switch on ceremony at some point in March/ April . A lot of the work now is internal and we will be making the stands water tight so the windows will be going in. We then will be fitting out banqueting suit, offices, and shop area etc in the main stand.
Moving on John told Player about how the pitch will be laid and he continued "Externally we have now started to prepare the pitch this will take about twenty weeks in total. The first nine weeks or so, will see the drainage going in. Then we need to add around one hundred and fifty lorry loads of sand and soils which will get the playing area to the correct level. The pitch will then be seeded which should then enable it to be ready for the first match.
Finally John revealed that the bad weather had caused a few problems but everything was back on schedule and the stadium isn't far off being ready to receive its first visitors from local schools and John concluded
"The weather been the biggest challenge we did lose a bit of time but we are now back on schedule. It's given me a lot of pleasure to see it going up so quickly. John Croot will be starting to bring some schools around in April, May and June. The children are looking to do various projects about the stadium and then the plan is for the children to come back to see the finished stadium and to show what they have done.
