b2net poised for World Cup duty
The Spireites new b2net stadium could be a training base for one of the World Cup teams if England stage the finals tournament in 2018.
Use of Chesterfield's new stadium, currently being built at Whittington Moor, formed part of Sheffield's successful bid to be a host city as part of England's bid.
Sheffield is one of the twelve English cities chosen as bases for qualifying group matches, with Sheffield Wednesday's ground chosen as the main local venue. The teams playing at Hillsborough will be assigned training venues, of which Chesterfield's b2net stadium would be one.
Chairman Barrie Hubbard said: "We were part of Sheffield and Derby's bid to be host cities"
"Derby missed out but Sheffield is still in the running and if FIFA decides its England's turn in 2018, a team which has qualified for the World Cup could use the b2net stadium as its training base."
"We are delighted to be involved and hope it helps to enhance the chances of Sheffield's bid."

FIFA will announce the name of the country, along with host cities, awarded the 2018 World Cup Finals next December. If its England there could be a little bit of history in North Derbyshire as the b2net stadium prepares for its involvement in the World Cup.
