Thursday December 17th saw another milestone arrive at the Spireites new home on Whittington Moor when the b2net Stadium had its Topping Out Ceremony and Spireites Player spoke to John Currie the site director.
John told Player " Today's Topping Out ceremony is a key milestone on our programme where we have finished all concrete terraces and contractual steel work. We are actually slightly ahead of schedule so we are pleased with that and all the large cranes have no left site. The completion and handover date is July 5th and we are well on schedule to hit that.
What's next at the b2net and John continued "We are continuing with roofing and we will start cladding the roof in the New Year. The bricklayers have started in the West Stand blockwork and players tunnel . The South and North stands blockwork will also start in the New Year but will be completed in May."

"In January and February we will be levelling and putting drainage into the pitch area. The drainage is a herringbone pattern with will collect the water and then that will run out into the external drainage. The pitch suppliers will then come in on March 1st and they will come in and install and grow the pitch on site . That should make it a lot better than at the likes of Old Trafford where they are relaying the pitch all the time. The pitch process should take ten weeks "
On the floodlights John told Player "The floodlight works starts in January and they will be arriving one a time and will be constructed to full size on site and erected by March 1st. The lights then will be tested and commissioned in July".
On the the seating John told Player "The seats are really a last fit item but we will have a thousand seats installed in the West stand for visits and to give fans a taster of what the views will be like. We will also be opening a visitors centre for the club to use in the New Year."
