Here's a selection of images from the archives. Pictured right, Steve Norris celebrates another goal in Chesterfield's beserk 4-4 draw at Anfield in the 1992-3 Football League Cup.

Excuse the poor quality, but we're well before the digital age here. This is a scene from Chesterfield Town's first game in the Football League. A Town player receives treatment while Billy Going, in the socks, loafs; the bloke dressed like he's off to shoot grouse for the day is, in fact, the referee.

Dudley Milligan seems slightly unwilling to model the 1939 Chesterfield shirt, with these newfangled numbers on the back. His team-mates seem amused by them; one can only conclude that there couldn't have been much to laugh about in the run-up to World War Two!

In the 1950s Chesterfield had first-class training facilities at Pitt Street, in Eckington. Note the floodlights, and remember that we were the last League club to have them at our stadium! During the financial crises of the 1980s all this lot was sold for housing.

Tom Fenoughty receives his 1969-70 Player of the Season award from the Editor of the Derbyshire Times. Arthur Sutherland and Harold Shentall look on.

Here's the 1969-70 side celebrating their Division Four championship win in the changing rooms after the last match of the season.

John Duncan reflects upon his side's 1997 FA Cup run to the semi-finals, with the Littlewoods Giantkillers Cup

Sean Parrish showers the crowd - and the camera lens - with champagne after our last season in the fourth tier ended in promotion. The same again would be nice - but without the cheating. With good behaviour our ex-chairman might be out of the nick in time to see it.
