MORE GIRLS SUCCESS

Posted on: Thu 23 Nov 2006

Inspired by the presence of England Scout Jane Ebbage, Chesterfield Girls Centre of Excellence experienced a successful afternoon against Cambridge City with pride of place going to the under 14's, who after three phases of play won by 5 goals to 2.

Paulette Smith made an excellent debut in goal making some fine saves in the first 30 minute game which ended 0-0.

A short range finish from Mellissa Wilcocks and a scrambled effort by Christine Long sent the Blues into the third period with a 2-1 advantage, but it was the 3rd and final phase where the game came to life with some pulsating attacking football culminating in more goals for the home team.

Suzie Gelson helped herself to a brace with neat finishes from 10 yards out and left back Lauren Jubb had the final say running onto a ball delivered to the far post which she struck sweetly into the corner of the net.

The under 16's were always in the driving seat and goals from Nicola Dale (2) and K bailey were enough to seal a 3-1 victory.

The 12's played well in windy conditions with Laura O Neill in outstanding form in defence.
