On a bitterly cold day for our under 16's the coaching theme for the day was keeping possession which Chesterfield  did well, Inspired by the immaculate Grace Whittaker the Blues played some exceptional football but struggled to find a cutting edge against some stiff opposition.

Emma Wilkinson finally found the back of the net with a glorious shot from just inside the area.

The games were played in four phases with results as follows:

Notts County 0-0 Chesterfield

Lincoln City 0-0 Chesterfield

Notts County 2-1 Chesterfield

Lincoln City 2-0 Chesterfield

Our under 14's had a mixes set of results but there were some notable performances in particular from April Bingham, Nicola Dale and Amy Gavuzzi. The latter went on to play a final phase for the under 16's where she did exceptionally well going close to scoring on numerous occasions.

In the under 12 matches There was very little to choose between all the teams taking part.

The defences of all teams were on top and the poor weather conditions limited all strikers to very little few scoring opportunities.

Chesterfield were unlucky to lose their first round matches by a solitary goal.

Although the games are strictly used for the purpose of player development, for the record  Chesterfield lost 2:0 to Notts County and then 2:1 to Lincoln in the second round of matches.

Chesterfield players were congratulated by Coach Selwyn Marston for being able to cope with significant tactical changes and playing in different positions. Selwyn felt that for a number of players that this was a significant learning experience. The standard of football remains at a high level and the players are keen to bounce back in their next fixture.
