Mark Crossley was called upon this week to do the Spireites Player honours and do the Spireites pre Macclesfield preview. Mark told Player "It's a massive game and they are doing well and we have a couple of players in Gritts and Tommy who are going back to a former club. I just hope we can take the second half from Grimsby into the game and not have to wait until two goals down before we start playing"
On Macclesfield Mark added " Macclesfield seem to have pulled together since the tragedy of losing Keith Alexander and Gary Simpson's done a good job and now earned the job full time. They have a very quick player called Sinclair and they played three at the back with five in midfield when I watched them so they are compact and they try to play football. They haven't got the biggest squad but they are playing with confidence.
Injury news Mark told player "Wade still touch and go and is perhaps 50/50 with his hamstring its still a bit tight. Danny Boshall also probably 50/50 with another tight hamstring. I think with the harder pitches that players are picking up little niggles. I think that Brecks still carry a knock but that's why we have a squad and that's why we played Jordan Bowery for fresh legs and looking forward we have a few good young lads who can come in. We have lost some of our best players with injury we lost Jack for a spell and we lost Jamie Lowry Gregor Robertson early on in the season. Aaron Downes came back for a short time and we stopped conceding goals. So I think that if those four players had stayed fit for all of the season we would have been in the top three and we have missed them simply as that.
On the play off battle Mark commented "It's all about which teams got the bottle out of the eight teams in it. We have missed a cutting edge at times and that's what's been disappointing at times that we haven't shown a little more bottle. But there are still eight teams in there and it's really a question of if the players have got the bottle, because at the end of the day its down to them.
