John: It was shambolic

Posted on: Fri 09 Apr 2010

A clearly disappointed John Sheridan spoke to Spireites Player after seeing his side concede 3 goals in a nightmare twelve minutes at the end of the first half at Underhill.

John told Player "Our first half performance wasn't good enough at all after going one nil up we should have stepped it up and controlled the game. It was shambolic to go in 3-1 down . We didn't show any desire to get back into the game and they scored all three goals from inside the six yard box and you have to ask questions about your defenders and keeper. They get told the same things every day on how to stop crosses coming in and some people don't appear to listen."

"It's my job to do something about it and I have to take part of the blame I picked the side that beat Rochdale and they should have been confident and we weren't at the races in the first half. Some of them have to take a long hard look at themselves and how they played like that.

On the injury to Mark Allott  John commented  "Mark Allott fall awkwardly on his hip but the game was there for the taking and we didn't respond and show any desire to win the game. The only positive really from the game was Jack getting a few minutes under his belt. But we have to stay positive and get as many points as possible to ensure a play off spot from our remaining games.
