John Sheridan spoke to Spireites Player after seeing his side beat top of the table Rochdale at Saltergate John told Player "I have to say they were the better team in the first half, I think we just gave them a little too much respect. I had a little go at the players at half-time, I felt we just stood back and let them dictate how they wanted to play. I said that we weren't playing Barcelona, I wanted to get it clear in their heads not to let them have so much comfort on the ball. It was a great save by Picken in the first half, it was a totally different game after that, we rode our luck and I thought we got back into the game in the second half, we upped the tempo, got in and around them and caused them problems."
John also praised keeper Tommy Lee and continued "Tommy made a wonder save at 1-0 but in the second half we were the better team, we got in their faces a bit more and caused them problems. I just want to instill some belief, we're not in a bad position, we're not a bad team but we'd been playing like we were a bad team and that shouldn't be the case. We've got the opportunity to get into the play-offs, a chance of Wembley and getting out of this league and there are still plenty of points to play for."
On his eventual winning team selection John added "It was a good game for us, against the best team in the division and we had to up our game to get a positive result and that's what we did and hopefully we can take that into the game on Monday. We'd been leaking a few goals and I could've left anyone out, it's not just Page and Goodall because they'd been the worst players, but I just made changes and hoped to get a response, bring one or two in and first and foremost get a result."
On the missing Drew Talbot John told Player "Drew's got another virus, he's had a lot of viruses this year, I don't know what he's doing away from the ground but he's a bit of a Mr Sicknote at the moment and he'll miss the Barnet game. He needs to sort himself out."
