John told Player "It was a good battling performance. They are made life very difficult and they get the ball forward early and have some big players and they are fighting for there lives. They gave us a right test but I thought when we got the ball down i thought we looked a decent side. Once we got the goal we had something to hold on to and I thought the two centre halves did very well today. At this stage of the season its all about the three points and I will take 1-0 all day long. We had to make changes Dominic Green returned Peterborough Drew been out with a virus and he wasn't fit enough to travel today. I have a lot of decent players who are not even involved at the moment but we brought in Derek Niven and Smally who both played well today."

On ending the Spireites recent penalty hoodoo with Barry Conlon scoring the Spireites first spot kick out of five attempts John added "I saw Barry and Adam Rundle both seemed keen to take it. I didn't actually watch it but was pleased that he stuck it away."

On receiving his second manager of the month award of the season John commented "It's nice to get acknowledged but it's a team effort, its down to the staff and players efforts. I want to get out of the division as quickly as possible so the awards a lot more about the club than about me."

New loan signing Andy Whing joined his team mates at the ground for the first time and John told Player alittle about his latest addition to the squad. "I have liked Andy for a while and he only met up with us today. He's a right back / centre back and Brighton's player of the year last season. So he will be pushing for a starting place when he gets to know the lads and adding further competition to the squad."

On getting into the top three John added "It's going to be a long season and it will probably go right down to the wire. I am not bothered about anyone else and we have to get as many wins as possible as quickly as possible to get ourselves into a strong position. So we will be going to Notts County on Tuesday looking to win the game."
