Mark: We want it high tempo

Posted on: Fri 19 Feb 2010

So far lucky Spireite Player previewer Mark Crossley looked ahead to the Spireites trip to Darlington on Saturday and Mark told Player "It will be far from an easy game if we don't prepare properly we will become unstuck. The lads looked bright today in training and on Friday we want it high tempo and we then want to take that high tempo into the game on Saturday. Darlington have just beat Rotherham twice recently which shows we have to be right at it from the kick off.

The big danger is that they have nothing to lose and they will be treating every game like a cup final and if they pick up three points they will be three points better off and closer to escaping. But every game for us is also a cup final if we are to push on and aim for the top three.

We haven't been playing our best football of late but we have been getting the results. The players have shown a great attitude. I predicted last week the Bury game would be tight and if we can keep things tight on  the pitch we wont be that far away at the end of the season. But we will be taking games one game at a time and then we will see where that takes us."

Mark then covered the various injury news in brief and he added "Obviously we have had the bad news about Aaron and we are all gutted for the lad and he will be a big loss for us.  Wade continues to be troubled with a niggly knee so he has to be careful and we are monitoring his training.  Jack's also had his operation and we expect him to be back in four to six weeks so it looks like he will be back at a crucial time for us towards the end of the season. Pleasingly though Drew Talbot is back in full contention to face Darlington."
