Mark Crossley did the honours with his first pre-match preview on Spireites Player and Mark told Player "Obviously we know it will be tough they were a stiff opposition when they played here at Saltergate. Then lads were down and out after Tuesday but we had matched Rotherham who are sitting high up in the League. The one thing we can't fault is the spirit of the players and we have hit a bad patch and hopefully we can get our bad pitch out of the way and kick on and get our form back to what is was earlier in the season."
On Morecombe Mark added
"I know Sammy McIlroy fairly well he was on the same pro-licence course as me and he's very enthusiastic and a real football fella. So tactically he will be aware of our threats and we are aware of there's in Phil Jevons and they also have Manny Panther who played very well here."
Mark then discussed the difficulties the club are facing trying to bring in loan players and he told Player subscribers
"We have lost two players to long term injuries in Gregor and Jamie Lowry and have a lot of short term injuries at the moment. We like to play football and with wingers and we are working hard to get wingers in. But it's difficult to get players to come in of the right quality and pedigree. When players have come in and done well here the likes of Donal McDermott other clubs in higher leagues want to take them. So its a bit of a losing situation if a player comes in does well you know clubs will come in from higher leagues so it is really difficult."
Mark was then asked about Martin Gritten recent goal scoring exploits for the reserves and Mark replied
"What we have told Martin is that we wanted him to be hungrier and he's now worked hard in training and he shown that hunger by his recent goals for the reserves. It's down to the manager if he picks him I know he's been mentioned, and there's a chance but its down to the manager whether Martin starts or not.
Looking ahead though Mark was in a positive mood and continued
"There is always a spell in a season when it's tough and we have been in a rough patch. But lets not all get doom and gloom there are still sixty points to play for and we are right in there in the chasing pack. We believe if we can get 75 points that will secure a play off place and that's the next aim. All we say is that we need the crowd to get behind us and rough patches end and you can go on a winning run again. We are positive that we can still achieve what we came here to do this season.
