John: It looked a draw all the way
A disappointed John Sheridan spoke to Spireites Player after seeing Ronnie Moore's Millers side grab three points with a last gasp winner at Saltergate.
John told Player "I think it looked a draw all the way. There was very little between the sides, we both had half chances in a game that wasn't great. There was a lot of effort from both sides and the players worked their socks off. It was a shame we lost our concentration and we switched off again after working hard for a point. It was a typical derby game really with little real flowing football and there were one or two tackles going in and a few mistakes . Like I say I don't think there was anything between the sides and we are all down and disappointed after conceding so late in the game. It's a shame because I thought we didn't deserve to lose.
On his new strike pairing Barry Conlon and Jack Lester John added "I thought Jack and Barry linked up well but we have lost a lot pace from the side at the moment. Jack and Barry did cause them a few problems. Jack did very well considering he's hardly trained of late and he was sore and tired and lasted longer than I thought he would before I took him off "
With the transfer window closing on Monday and Spireites losing form and players through injury John is still very keen to reintroduce pace back into his side and he continued "I am trying to bring in some pace back into the side and bring in wide men and hopefully we might have some good news tomorrow . Some clubs want us to pay too much and whether we can afford that we will have to see. But something will happen and I am hoping to have at least two players in by Saturday"
Finally John issued a bit of a rallying cry and told Player "So now we have to roll our sleeves up and get battling. We have lost some ground on Rotherham but I know we are good enough the effort was there but we lacked some quality. So I'm peed off the players aren't happy and I know the fans will be upset because we lost the game. But there is still along way to go with twenty odd games to so we have to stay together and try and get a positive result from the next game."
