A disappointed John Sheridan spoke to Spireites Player after seeing his side slip to defeat at home to Shrewsbury Town.

John told Player "It was a disappointing poor performance and we never really got going. We haven't trained a lot and when we have trained its not been ideal and we didn't have a spark really. I made one or two changes because of previous results. Perks didn't get to the ground till quarter to three he got caught up in traffic so Del played. One or two others arrived later than normal but overall it was probably our worst performance of the season in a game where we worked hard to get the game on. Right from kickoff though I felt it wasn't going to happen we had plenty of possession but our final ball was poor"

On the first half Dave Hibbert goal that eventually gave the Shrews the points and John continued  "I thought there was a clear foul on Derek Niven, but the referee played on and we got punished for it. To be fair it was a neat finish but again it was another simple ball into our box. I thought we were the better team without playing well and Shrewsbury made it difficult for us. The conditions weren't the best and we didn't get going and lacked spark.

On the injury to Drew Talbot and the absence of Jack Lester John told Player

"Drew's gone up to the hospital for X-rays he landed on his ankle awkwardly and he was in a lot of discomfort and I hope he's okay. Jack tweaked his knee at Lincoln in a block tackle and he had a couple of days off but tweaked it again in training, but hopefully he will be okay for Northampton"

Finally John finished the interview by promising to sort out the Spireites drop on form in the weeks ahead.  Obviously now that the January transfer windows open and with three loans finishing it seems likely there will be a few changes in the squad. John concluded the interview by saying

"We are in a scrap now and I have told players that and they have to get better. I was here early helping to get game on forking the goal mouth because I love football and wanted the game on. I wanted the three points which would have taken us to fourth, I don't like looking at the table and seeing us in ninth. I don't want to be in ninth, we have been in a good position but we have let ourselves down.  So we will be working hard  to rectify that and we have three loans up this week Mark Little, Dave Perkins and Davide Somma so there will be changes  I don't like where we are at the moment and I will sort it out, I will definitely sort it out
