John Sheridan faced the Spireites Player camera for the last time in 2009 and he looked forward to Saturday's game against Shrewsbury Town. John initially told player about the limited training available and the frustration of Mondays Rotherham game being postponed.
"It's difficult at the moment with the weather. But we don't want to make excuses and we want to get back to winning ways against Shrewsbury. Monday was frustrating, I looked at the pitch and I thought it was ideal but that's the way footballs going nowadays.
Moving on to cover the team news John added
"Everyone's is available though Davide Somma's not trained much and I will try and put a team out to win the match. We should have got something at Lincoln and we are trying to sort it out. Teams are not playing through us and we are decent at defending. But teams are just putting simple balls into the box that should be easily defended. If we sort it we can get the results our play deserves. But we keep shooting ourselves in the foot and concede a goal or two goals and give ourselves a mountain to climb. The last few goals we have conceded have come from headers and people have to get touch tight in the box and stop crosses its simple. So we are where we are and we have to go on a little run if we are to get out of the division. Its all very tight at the top with ten or twelve teams in there and we have to start winning football matches both at home and away."
John then mentioned the opposition and he continued
"Shrewsbury are a strong outfit with some experienced players and they will be on a high after beating Bradford. So we will have to be on our toes because on their day they can beat anybody and will be around the play offs come May."
John was then asked about the transfer window opening and he briefly replied
"We have a few loans ending both here and at other clubs and I have ideas on who and where I want to strengthen us in the New Year so things will be happening after Saturday"
Of course no interview at this point of the year is complete without a message to the supporters and John concluded by saying
"Keep the faith and stay with us. I don't like going to Lincoln and losing and we had a great following there. So stay with us and I am very confident we will be up there and I wish all our supporters a very Happy New Year ."
