John Sheridan spoke to Spireites Player ahead of Saturdays trip to Burslam to face Post Vale

John told Player "It's an important period of the season when games are close together a few wins and you can find yourself in a very good position. But we will be taking it one game at a time starting with another tough game at Port Vale."

John's counterpart at Vale Park Mickey Adams is an old friend of the Spireites boss and John continued

"I know Mickey Adams very well from our time at Leeds together But I will be going there to beat him and have a drink with him afterwards. Port Vale are another side who can easily go on a winning streak, the League is very evenly matched so we have to be prepared and hopefully we can cause them problems and make it hard for them. The big pitch will hopefully suit us and we can get our wide men into the game. They are a big strong side and play an unusual formation and have had some good results especially in the Cup where they knocked out both Sheffield sides.

Finally John concluded the preview with an update on the recoveries of Aaron Downes and Davide Somma and John  added

"Aaron Downes got another ninety minutes under his belt for the reserves against a strong Doncaster side. I still think he needs another couple of games to get really match fit and hes getting sharper. So it's good that these games give us the opportunity for the likes of Derek Niven to keep match sharp with the Christmas period ahead. Davide Somma also progressing well he's been treated at Leeds but Saturday may just be a bit to soon for him".
