A disappointed John Sherdan spoke to Spireite Player following the 2-1 defeat at Gigg Lane.
John told Player "We didn't really start playing until the last twenty minutes Scot Boden came on and he gave us a bit more of a cutting edge but before that we didn't get going. I knew it was going to be a horrible game with the weather and that and I told the players to play our own game if we can . But we didn't really get going and in games like that you would be happy with a point.
John was far from happy with his sides defending and he continued
"We have given away soft goals again. The first goals a joke and sometimes I have to be a brave man, look at things and make brave decisions if we are to be a successful team. We had plenty of bodies in there for the first goal which came from a nothing ball and we should have dealt with it easily and that cost us. They then got the momentum and they got the second goal. Then we start to play and that should never happen. The conditions and the pitch didn't help but in the last twenty minutes on the same pitch with same weather we started to play. We just got caught up in their game and we didn't dictate our game to them and we didn't get going.
John then praised his team efforts over the last few weeks but obviously was disappointed not get at least a point against Alan Knill's side and John concluded
"The players have done very well for me over the last four or five weeks and we had got ourselves into a great position and we had a great opportunity to get right up there and we end up playing like that. So we are all disappointed but it's important now that we bounce back in the next game."
