John: I will be making some harsh decisions

Posted on: Sun 13 Sep 2009

A clearly frustrated John Sheridan spoke to Spireite Player after seeing his side lose 2-1 to Dagenham & Redbridge

John told Player "We made individual mistakes and conceded goals that should have been avoided. I thought we coped quite well with the bombardment and looked bright going forward in the first half and caused them problems. To be fair we could have scored a few goals ourselves but we failed to hit the target. Then until the last ten minutes of the second half we weren't at the races and I don't like what I have seen and I will be making some harsh decisions next week.

I thought the game was there to win and the players didn't show me that they really wanted it which is disappointing. I am aware of what's going and where we are in the League and I don't like where we are one little bit. So that's up to me to sort it out. So I will be telling some players that they can move on and if I can get them out I will. I need to bring some people in to make us a better team.

On the decision to play Rob Page at right back John told Player "I just thought we might benefit us to defend the long throws"

Finally John updated player about Drew Talbot who was substituted at half time "Drew got a bang on his knee, so hopefully that's not to serious and he will be okay for next week"
