Posted on: Sun 06 Sep 2009

A clearly disappointed and angry John Sheridan spoke to Spireites Player after seeing his side lose 3-1 at the Don Valley Stadium.

John told Player "I am very disappointed to lose 3-1. I thought we looked comfortable in the first half and we should have had the game won and had some great opportunities with Jack and Wade to get the second goal "

John then talked about the second half in frank terms and continued "I am not happy with the reaction we got in the last half hour where we seemed to cave in after they upped the tempo a bit. The three goals we conceded I think came from three poor clearances and came from sloppy sloppy defending. I think we threw away the opportunity to take three points today and I have made it clear in the dressing room that won't happen again while I am here. I tell the players every week that if you give silly fouls away you can get punished, but that seems to go in one ear and out the other and if players don't listen then they will pay the penalty.

So we have to learn how to win games .But credit to Rotherham they upped the tempo we didn't and we have been found out a little bit. If we want to get out of the division then you have to come to places like Rotherham and get results."
