John Sheridan previewed the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Burton Albion, a game he wants to win to the memory of ticket office manager Sue Green who sadly passed away at home on August Bank Holiday Monday morning. Sue was popular with fans and players alike and the news has shocked everyone at the club. Everyone's thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.
John told Player "
The Johnstones Paint Trophy is our best chance of winning a Cup and it's a game that we want to win. They are doing well and still on a high from coming into the league and they used to winning matches. So we are expecting a very hard game and I won't be making wholesale changes we will go there and give it our best shot.
They will be favourites as the home side and they will also be trying to get out the League. I think we have got off to a reasonable start but I want to be in the top five or six as that breeds confidence. So I want us to be right there competing. With a bit more luck we could have had a few more points so we have to keep working hard and chipping away. I want the players to be like me and want to go and win whatever game I don't like losing."
Finally John commented on Sue Green's passing away " I had to tell the players this morning and I hope the news about Sue doesn't upset them too much. But it's very sad. I thought she was a lovely lady and she always had a smile on her face and she made us all feel very welcome. She was also a big fan and went to most games so hopefully we can go and win the game for her."
