John: A point is a fair reflection on the game

Posted on: Sun 23 Aug 2009

John Sheridan spoke to Spireite Player after seeing his side come from a goal down to share the spoils at the Prostar Stadium

John told Player "I think the point is a fair reflection on the game. We didn't start very well and looked flat in the first half. So for the first time really I had to say a few words at half time. But credit to the players they went out upped the tempo and a real go and possibly could have won the game."

"So I think we matched them overall and I think they will be one of the sides up there so we new it was going to be tough. Tommy made a wonder save early on and I wasn't happy with the goal we conceded the full back should never be allowed to cross the ball in the first place. But the players responded well and I was pleased by the second half performance."

Jamie likes getting forward and I am pleased that he got us back into the game and then we just didn't get the break in the final third to get a second goal.

Finally John once again stated his desire to strengthen the Spireites squad before next Saturdays home game against Morecombe and John continued

"I am still trying to bring in a player or two in the next week because I feel we need to strengthen the squad in certain areas. No ones guaranteed a place in my team I don't care who it is. But we will recharge our batteries this week and obviously it's a big game at home next week and I expect us top get three points"
