John Sheridan was pleased with the Spireites overall display against Scunthorpe United but again was concerned by the manner of the goals conceded and told Spireite Player
"I am pleased with the way we played but we are losing games. But tonights was against a very good championship side, I thought we did very well and I thought we had a right go at them. The manner of the goals conceded was disappointing again. The first goal came after they cleared the ball off their line and you can see a long ball coming and they break and score and that shouldn't happen it shouldn't happen. People should know their jobs and deal with it. For the second goal followed a great save from Tommy but people can't just switch off and we got punished for switching off."
With twenty minutes to go the Spireites despite being two goals down really gave the home side a fright with youngsters Jordan Bowrey and Donal McDermott catching the eye and pegging a goal back through Darren Currie's spot kick after Drew Talbot was brought down.
John continued "I think it was a penalty well I say that I was seventy yards away so I can't really judge. But I am really encouraged by the way we tried to get back into the game. Towards the end we were taking the game to them and I thought Donal McDermott was outstanding "
"Jordan Bowrey's only eighteen and he's got real potential he will frustrate at times but if he listens and learns I think he will become a player. I don't expect him to pull up that many trees at the moment but he got more involved as the game went on and he was unfortunate not to score when the ball was cleared off the line. I thought it was in but it wasn't to be and I can't fault any of the players for effort in both games so far"
