John told World "I thought we did well to be honest and were perhaps the better team for seventy minutes. It was a good work out and we looked very solid. I thought Mark Allott was the best player on the pitch for sixty minutes. The goal was sloppy and don't like losing and it would have been nice to have got a result against a very good Championship side.

John then confirmed that goalkeeper Tommy Lee and Alan Goodall missed the game through illness and Injury respectively before looking ahead to Wednesday nights trip to Buxton and Saturdays trip to Kettering

It's important for the players like Danny Hall Kev Austin and a few others that they are disappointed that they didn't play tonight or not involved as much as they would have liked to have been that's only natural. But they have to keep focus and be ready because you never know what's around the corner We want everyone fully fit for the first game. Kettering at the weekend will be a good test for us away from home and they will want to have a go at us."

John when asked what the situation was with Drew Talbot who watched the game room the stands continued "We have signed Drew. I haven't seen play myself for a couple of years but he did well here on loan last season by all accounts. We also have had him watched in preseason and he's reportedly looked sharp and fit. So hopefully he will give us some pace and his work rate will be an asset. I have brought him in more as a striker but I know he can play anywhere up top."
