Spireites manager John Sheridan faced the Spireites World camera for the first time since preseason got underway and he started by looking forward to Saturday's Derbyshire Centenary Cup clash against Championship side Derby County.
John said "Derby will be a good test for us, though I am sure Nigel will agree though at this stage of preseason it's really about getting players fit and playing football matches again. So I will be trying to give everyone a game like we did against Doncaster in midweek. But at the end of the day we would like to win the game and put on a good show"
John then added "The Derby game is only our second game so this one is more about fitness and in the later games we will be looking more at shape and towards what team will start against Torquay"
Moving onto discuss the preseason so far and on how he feels the squads shaping John continued
"I have been very pleased by the players attitude some have clearly come into to impress me and I am pleased with how things are going. The players have all worked very hard but we need to create more competition for places.
So I'm want to strengthen the squad because nobody here will be in a comfort zone. I want to bring in a striker, a central midfielder and a wide man. I would like to have at least two in by the start of the season and the players I have in mind are all at other clubs doing preseason so fitness won't be a problem."
