"The first four or five games look quite difficult but it's a good start for us obviously a long trip first up ideally I would of liked a home game but it's a good start. We go into every game thinking it's going to be tough and treat every match the same then we'll be ok."

"The Carling Cup match is away at Scunthorpe and again I would have liked that to be at home but it will be a tough match"

"Last season at Saltergate and the last match is at home against Bournemouth and it would be nice to finish here on a high. I've said it before though it will be a tough season."

"Jack Lester will be missing for the first two games and it's up to the other players to give Jack a problem and he's going to be a big player for us this season and he's agreed an extension to his contract his record scores for himself and hopefully his goals can take us out of this division. He looks after himself well and that's one of the reasons why he's got an extension."

Commenting on news that he has opened talks with a striker John said:  "I want to be ready for the season, I've looked at areas where we can strengthen and whoever comes in needs to fight to get into the side. I'm not giving too much away because its early days but I have been talking to certain players but there are other clubs interested. I want one or two new players in before the start of pre-season and I'm working hard to get them and hopefully they will give a boost to the squad and fans."
