John: It's Exciting
New Manager John Sheridan meets Spireites World after his inaugural Press Conference. Read the highlights here.
"I'm pleased to be back in management and it's a big challenge and I'm looking forward to it. Oldham was my first job and I was very fortunate it was little easier because I'd been there a long time, I did alright as a manager and brought some young players through. I made mistakes but I'll learn from them and it will stand me in good stead. I had to work on a low budget and I had to bring through youth players and Oldham will look good there."
"My style of football is passing but its about getting results which will please everyone in the town. We want to be effective and we don't want clichéd into playing good football and losing".
"It was very important for me to bring my own staff in. We all work as a team and that will benefit. Chesterfield have one or two experienced players like Jack Lester and Derek Niven, Robert Page and Darren Currie. I watched five or six matches the season before last but not so many last season, it's a good blend of players in the squad. I don't want no-one in the comfort zone and I want consistency and all the players will start from scratch and I'll give them a fair chance.
"Its exciting regarding the new ground but lets get out of this division first and foremost and it will be even better that we can leave here (Saltergate) on a good note".
"My former managers were different Ron Atkinson was the best man manager who I played under, but I'm my own man I want my players to enjoy themselves and not to feel under pressure."
"I want us to be out of this divison as quickly as possible and win football matches, I enjoy being around football 25 years as a player and manager, I can improve players and its about consistency there are all good players and if they can do it then we'll get out of this division."
