Lee: We couldn't have a tougher game

Posted on: Wed 15 Apr 2009

Lee Richardson had the players in training before Monday's trip to Kenilworth Road to face relegation threatened Johnstone Paint Trophy winners Luton Town and Lee took time out to speak to Spireites World.  Being a subscriber is always the best way to follow the Spireites.

Lee started by going through the Club's increasing injury list and said "Lewis Montrose should be back in training within the next seven to ten days. Aaron Downes is a big concern he will be going for scan on Tuesday at the earlist and until we get the results of the scan we won't really know the full extent of the ligament damage. He's the type of the lad who tends to play through the pain barrier so for him to come off it says a lot about the injury."

Lee continued to look forward to the game and continued

"I don't think we could have a tougher game on Monday in all honesty. They have won the Cup and there will be a big turn-out to see that and they are bound to want to fight to the death. From our point of view it will be a tough test and we need to get something from the game.

I thought we looked tired in the second half against Darlington so there's that to balance up and we have picked up three injuries in as many games. So there may be some fresh legs besides the enforced changed of replacing Aaron Downes. So there's lots of thinking to be done about the team selection.

We have also brought Jordan Bowery into the squad. He scored two goals against Lincoln City on Saturday. He was head and shoulders above anybody else on the pitch and it's a bit too easy for him at that level.

It's so tight at the top and there was some understandable disappointment around the place after Saturday's draw. Two wins and a draw will probably be enough to get that play-off spot."
