TONIGHT'S GAME - CHESTERFIELD V LINCOLN CITY KICKS-OFF AT 7.30PM
Lee Richardson started his preview with a look at Tuesday night's opposition, Peter Jackson's Lincoln City and he said
"Lincoln could be really back in it with a win on Tuesday and it would be a massive result for them, similarly we also have a big incentive to win. Janos Kovacs should be back at Saltergate for them but he went off with a head injury on Saturday so there could be a doubt over him. Geoff Horsfield also spent some time here also this season and they are team who have won two games on the trot. But we have a great opportunity to finish our games in hand with three points and that would mean we jump into the play-off spots, which would be a good reward for the players"
Lee then updated Spireites World subscribers about the injured Lewis Montrose and Lee continued
"We are still awaiting the result of a scan that Lewis is going to have at Wigan. The suspicion is it could be a nasty knee injury and there's a strong chance he could be out for at least the remainder of this season but the scan will confirm the situation. So it's a big blow for us because he appeared to be the missing piece in our jigsaw in terms of a central midfield player. So he will be a loss and how we compensate for that will be crucial. We have various options and its time for someone to step up and show what they can do."
Looking back to his mini weekend outburst about the standard of pitches in the lower league Lee added
"We lost a good player and you don't need a panel of experts to tell you that hard pitches cause injuries. People will whinge about me whinging but I will continue to whinge until other people take it seriously. Why is Saltergate such a good surface and other league one and league two ground aren't. I know for a fact that the pitch a Macclesfield wasn't prepared correctly with a view to the opposition they faced. Although it is a level playing field so to speak for both teams but I don't think its right. Different tactics, styles of play and formations are fair but pitches should meet a certain standard."
Pitch note: Since the interview is has been revealed that the Macclesfield Town groundsman was instructed not to water the Moss Rose pitch for one week ahead of the game.
