THE X-RAY RESULTS ARE IN

Chesterfield's influential midfielder Derek Niven has had an x-ray on his injured ankle and there is good news and bad news. The good news in that nothing is broken. The bad news is that Derek is still expected to be out of action for up to four weeks with damaged ligaments. The injury occurred during last weekend's one nil victory over Walsall followiing a crunching tackle from the Saddlers' Mark Kinsella.
Chesterfield manager Roy McFarland said: "I am pleased that nothing is broken but with ligament damage we still expect Derek to be missing for up to a month"
GARETH DAVIES SHOULD RECOVER

There is better news about Niven's substitute in last Saturday's game. Gareth Davies, who also limped off before the end following a deadleg, is now expected to recover and be in contention for Chesterfield's next game, the local derby against Barnsley at Oakwell.
FOLAN HAS OP

Striker Caleb Folan has also been in hospital this week for his hernia operation, which will keep him out for up to six weeks.
DAWSON SEES SPECIALIST
Chesterfield defender Kevin Dawson has now seen a specialist about his torn thigh muscle. Although an operation is not required it will take some time for the injury to heal with careful treatment and rehabilitation. He is not expected back for some time, may even be not until the New Year.

Chesterfield manager Roy McFarland said: "The major thing for the club now is to stick by Kevin Dawson as he progresses through his rehabilitation. He is a great lad to have around and when he is fully fit and on top of his game he will virtually die for the cause. I hope he will be back in contention before too long."
