INJURY UPDATE

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

Roy McFarland brought Spireites World update with the current injury situation.

Caleb Folan looks to have chipped a bone on his ankle and he's currently got it in pot. Caleb will see a specialist on Friday for fresh X-rays and we will know more after that but it looks like he could be out till after Christmas.

David Reeves is making steady progress from his calf strain.  This is progressing a little slower than hoped but we are getting some improvement every day.

Glynn Hurst was due back to see the specialist this week to get to the bottom of his back pain, although his condition is improving he his still quite away from resuming full training with the rest of the squad.

Mark Smith is making steady progress from his flexor muscle strain we are taking this very carefully so we don't re-injure the muscle and set him back even further.

Jez Mitchell is doing well. Jez is suffering with sore tendons in his heel which appears to be on the mend and he is easing himself back into full training.

Mark Innes is out with a thigh strain we hoped he would be fit for this week but sadly for Mark he's not played a lot of games over the last eighteen months. He's had a lot of niggly injuries. The doctor thinks it could be related to his back he's strengthened one area when he went to Lilleshall but if you strengthen one side and sometimes the other side goes.

Stuart Howson gave his all at Grimsby and did okay at Grimsby but he needs to improve his fitness  over the next couple of weeks

Kevin Dawson seems not to have recovered fully from his hernia maybe it's reoccurred so he will be going to the specialists. What normally happens is players play on with this type of injury but we will monitor him and perhaps cut down on some aspects of training. But if we asked him to play he would.

Alan O'Hare had an ankle injury for the passed few weeks but he should be okay for Saturday and we have looked more solid when he's played in a back four.
