BLATHERS COULD BE FIT FOR QPR

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

COULD FACE RANGERS ON SUNDAY?Steve Blatherwick who was carried off at Whaddon Road on Saturday afternoon with a broken nose could amazingly be fit to face QPR on Sunday afternoon.

The non-nonsense centre half was taken to hospital in Cheltenham for X-rays. The X-rays confirmed that Blatherwick sustained a broken nose following a challenge with Julian Alsop.

Chesterfield physio Jamie Hewitt said "Steve took a terrible whack on his nose which is broken and he's suffered a lot of heavy bruising. But there's nothing major and if the bruising goes down and Steve wants to play there's no reason why he might not be involved on Sunday"

Stuart Howson's thigh is responding to treatment and he's currently rated at 50-50 for a quick return to the Spireites squad.

Jon Howard has also returned to full training this week.

But there was bad news for Steve Payne whose damaged ankle ligaments and he will be sidelined for around a month.
