Posted on: Fri 03 Aug 2007

It has been confirmed that utility player Gareth Davies has broken his big toe in three places and could be out for at least six weeks.

The injury was picked up in the Spireites 5-1 pre-season victory over Matlock Town earlier this week. Davies had to limp off after only 12 minutes of the game on Tuesday night and a subsequent scan has revealed the extent of the injury.

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "This is cruel luck for Gareth as he has just returned fully recovered for pre-season training after an injury hit season last year."
