Strange tales from Saturday
Spireite Richard Longmore and his son Daniel didn't want to miss out completely on Saltergates swan song against Bournemouth last Saturday and left a family wedding to attend part of the match.
Richard continues his story and told www.chesterfield-fc.co.uk
"About 18 months ago my sister booked her wedding to a Sheffield United season ticket holder. Unfortunately it was for 2.00pm on Saturday. When the fixtures came out I was obviously left with a serious dilemma - after 38 years of attending Saltergate and only missing three games in the last 15 years I needed to be at the match. So we compromised with my sister that as soon as the official photos of Dan and me were done we would shoot off to the game, as long we were back for 4 for the reception."

Phew they made it the best dressed at Saltergate?
Richard then arranged for a mate to pick up and drop off outside the ground Richard continued." We left Ringwood Hall at about 3.15, arrived at 3.25 and caught the last 20 minutes of the first half, even seeing a town player score in the Kop (thanks Drew). Just prior to the half time whistle we got picked up again and arrived back for the wedding reception just as the bride and groom were walking to their positions - a bit close but we just did it.
Obviously knowing that Dagenham were winning at this stage was a bit of a downer but my day was a good one - I just couldn't miss the last ever game at Saltergate, I caught up on the second half action with Mark Barton at the evening reception. He said that we were pretty good in the second half, so hopefully a better finishing position will be achieved next season at the B2net."

Enjoying a brief stop at the game
