New fans magazine launched

Posted on: Wed 03 Mar 2010

A brand new bi-monthly fan magazine has been launched across the region and is available to buy from the Spireites Club Shop, priced at £2.50 after the Aldershot Town match this Saturday 27 February 2010.

'first e11even' is written independently for the fans by the fans and features a wide range of articles from across the region. As well as featuring Chesterfield, it comprises another eight clubs as well as Back The Bid Sheffield 2018 Team & Sheffield & Hallamshire FA.

The aim of the magazine is to reflect the diverse footballing culture of the region, acting as a calling card both nationally and internationally with Sheffield recently chosen as a potential host city for England's 2018 Bid and Chesterfield's new b2net stadium being considered as a potential training camp.

Editor Blake Welton said: "The magazine is very much about the fans and we are looking for people to get involved in whatever way they can - whether it's buying the magazine or being a contributor and writing about your club or football in general."

As well as fan writers, the magazine is always on the look out for potential advertisers, sponsors and football-mad promotion girls to get involved.

On Chesterfield's involvement with 'first e11even', Blake added: "The fact that Chesterfield Football Club has embraced this independent fan initiative is something I am grateful for. They share the same vision of uniting fans and clubs for positive change and overall better matchday experiences."

"They really do want the fans to have an independent outlet that can have strong communication links back to them."

Issue 1 contains articles including 'Saltergate Sunset', a team of the decade piece entitled 'e11even for the decade', competitions and a whole lot more…

The 'first e11even' editor was also quick to point out that the magazine is not seen as a substitute for the Chesterfield matchday programme: "Definitely not. The matchday programme is an official piece of literature giving matchday information and continuing news whereas 'first e11even' is an informal fan outlet heavy on comment, opinion and retrospective.'

If you cannot get to the Chesterfield Club Shop to get your copy of the magazine, first e11even is also on sale from this Saturday at the Spar Shop, Whittington Moor and online at www.firste11even.co.uk.
